The market is hot, duh.

Why not post some stats on the Oklahoma real estate market as of July 2021, right? I mean, why not do it, even if everyone else is doing it already? After all, it is part of my job to ensure that we provide information to our members. We could make it super easy for you. The market is hot, duh. As I write this, I realize the sarcasm pouring out from this keyboard, and it is not my intention. I just don’t want to be bored, or boring, by telling people what they already know, the market is hot. Surely there is a better way to communicate this information to both the public and our members without it just another market stats video that is out there that only a few people will click on. Maybe the video concept just feels blah —

Because everyone is doing it.

These market stats video updates are a dime a dozen. Although, admittedly, ours is among the best quality (hair flip and hat tip to my communications team at OAR). So many real estate professionals, and my counterparts across the nation, do the same type of video so this type of thing is not unusual. We are told that video content drives traffic to our sites, but once an end-user gets to the site, what is there? Who is the site’s audience, the public or the member? The answer to that question, we will always be working on, and that’s more than okay.

We have determined that our state association’s general website is for our members. The new OAR website for members launched this past week, did you see it? However, the members already know the market statistics, so they aren’t coming to our site to find them. The public doesn’t want to peruse a website that is meant for members. (they should find a REALTOR® for questions and details about what the stats are doing so that they can list their house with one.) However, we know that people are seeking information, so we continue to post it.

We trudge along and continue to massage through ideas of how best to communicate the message that using a REALTOR® for your real estate transaction is important. Putting your listings and sales in the MLS is important. And we’ve got some things in the works for that public awareness thing. It is developing. For now, stay tuned and in touch with the current market conditions of the Oklahoma real estate market in this video. 📈

Oh and P.S. @Will and @Nabeel, you guys really are creative and I thank you for making this happen, producing good work, and also for your continued plans and ideas. I know you care, too.
